At David Lewis, the people we support are at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for a passionate, dedicated, and proactive Maintenance Assistant to join our close-knit maintenance team and make a real difference in the lives of the people we support.

About the Role:

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring our facilities, buildings, and grounds are well-maintained and safe for the residents and staff. You’ll be working as part of a supportive team, carrying out routine and planned maintenance tasks, always focused on delivering exceptional service.

Your work will ensure that our environment is:

  • Safe: You’ll ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and maintenance guidelines.
  • Effective: You’ll take pride in completing repairs and routine maintenance work with the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs
  • Use tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Maintain a safe working environment for everyone at David Lewis
  • Work closely with other trades and team members, supporting where needed
  • Respond to the needs of our staff and residents in a professional, caring manner
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to continually improve skills

What We’re Looking For:

We need someone who is not only skilled in general maintenance but who is also enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to delivering a service that enhances the quality of life for the people we support. The ideal candidate will have:

  • General maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of safe working practices
  • Qualifications in building maintenance (or relevant skills)
  • A positive attitude and strong communication skills
  • A full UK driving license
  • An awareness of safeguarding issues and a commitment to high standards of care and safety

David Lewis is dedicated to improving the life experiences of people with complex epilepsy, autism, learning disabilities and other complex support needs from across the UK.

We have a successful track record built up over 100 years with expertise in specialist residential, education, day opportunities and clinical and therapeutic services

Our specialist school and college is part of an education, day opportunities and residential community.

Our School is for 11-19 year olds and rated GOOD by Ofsted

We also have a college onsite for 16-25 year olds with an Ofsted rating of OUTSTANDING

Residential services for adults, either living in accommodation at our 165 acres in Warford or in one of our houses in a local town or village in Cheshire.

Adult day opportunities which develop social and vocational skills with the potential to lead to employment opportunities.

Access to therapy, nursing, medical and behaviour support if appropriate to an individual’s needs.

David Lewis provides care 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Hence, the post does require working early, late and weekend shifts as required.
