Registered Learning Disability Nurse / Mental Health Nurse

37.5 hours per week (full-time)

Salary: £29,000 - £34,500 

(Dependent on qualifications, skills and experience)

This is an exciting opportunity to join the David Lewis Clinical & Therapy Service working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide person centred Learning Disability/ Mental Health Nursing provision.

David Lewis Clinical & Therapy Services provide support for people who live in residential services and students who access educational services. We are dedicated to improving the quality of lives for people with learning disabilities and or autism, epilepsy, complex learning disorders, including neurological impairments, and other complex support needs. The people we support ages range from 11- to end of life. We have a successful track record, built up over 120 years with expertise and are rated as GOOD by the CQC and have recently been awarded a Chief Nurse England - Adult Social Care Nursing Team award for outstanding care.

Supporting the Specialist Nurses and wider MDT, you will help shape the future development of the Learning Disability / Mental Health Nurse role meeting the needs of the people we support. 

The successful candidate will:-

  • Hold a recognised Learning Disability Nursing / Mental Health Degree Qualification (or equivalent)
  • Be Registered member Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Demonstrate Knowledge, skill and experiential training to evidence specialist skills.
  • Demonstrate a successful track record for enhancing and improving outcomes for people with complex needs and learning disabilities as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be able to manage a caseload and prioritise, with support, having the ability to problem solve and plan ahead
  • Be able to work on own initiative and possess excellent time management skills
  • Have a good working knowledge of IT applications
  • Ideally have previous involvement in Audit and be committed to continuous learning
  • Ideally have experience of delivering training

Our School is for 11-19 year olds and rated GOOD by Ofsted We also have a college onsite for 16-25 year olds with an Ofsted rating of OUTSTANDING Residential services for adults, either living in accommodation at our 165 acres in Warford or in one of our houses in a local town or village in Cheshire.

Adult day opportunities which develop social and vocational skills with the potential to lead to employment opportunities. Access to therapy, nursing, medical and behaviour support if appropriate to an individual’s needs.

David Lewis provides care 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Hence, the post does require working early, late and weekend shifts as required.
