Centre Cover Nurse
22.5 hours per week (part-time) rotational days/nights
Salary: £36,483.00 - £44,164.86 pro-rata

This is an exciting opportunity to join the David Lewis Clinical & Therapy Service working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide person centred nursing Care in the Centre Cover Nursing Team.
David Lewis Clinical & Therapy Services provide support for people who live in residential services and students who access educational services. We are dedicated to improving the quality of lives for people with learning disabilities and or autism, epilepsy, complex learning disorders, including neurological impairments, and other complex support needs. The people we support ages range from 11- to end of life. We have a successful track record, built up over 120 years with expertise and are rated as GOOD by the CQC.
Centre Cover Nurses are responsible for, providing 24-hour emergency aid cover for the Residential, Education Day Opportunities services at David Lewis, delivering evidence-based nursing care to the people we support at David Lewis. And working in partnership with the Primary Health Care Team- e.g., General Practitioners, Secretaries, Receptionists, members of the community care team, statutory agencies- e.g., Social Services, Hospital Acute Trusts, Palliative Care Teams to ensure a holistic approach.
The successful candidate will:-
- Hold a recognised Registered Nursing Qualification (or equivalent) and be Registered member Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) (Essential)
- Have knowledge of conditions of epilepsy, autism, learning disability or other neurological conditions (Essential)
- Be competent in assessing severity of conditions with the use of National Early Warning Scoring (NEWS) 2. (Essential)
- Successful complete Centre Cover Training and pass OSCE examinations to a satisfactory standard. (Essential)
- Successful complete the Patient group directives (PDG’s) and associated David Lewis Drug Protocols (DLDPs) examination, (Essential)
- Be competent with wound management in accordance with the Cheshire Wound Care Guidance. (Essential)
- Be competent in venepuncture using the vacutainer system. Must be competent to use both the needle and butterfly techniques. (Essential)
- Be competent to perform ECG recordings. (Desirable)
- Be competent to assess and perform ear irrigation (Desirable)
- Be competent in immunisations (Desirable)
- Hold or be willing to work towards obtaining a recognised Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification (Desirable)
